DESCRIPTION:
The Chilterns MS Ce
ntre’s Pop-Up Art Weekend is back on 5 & 6 March.
\n
After a
2-year wait\, on Saturday 05 March and Sunday 06 March\, the Chilterns MS
Centre will be hosting their Pop-Up Art weekend again.
\n
The event
is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the charity\, which\, like many
small charities\, had much of its income reduced due to the pandemic and t
he lack of fundraising events it could run. So there is a lot of exciteme
nt about the return of the Art Weekend from the staff and volunteers at th
e Centre\, as well as the artists who will be exhibiting.
\n
The even
t is free to attend and visitors will be welcomed by a range of work\, fro
m paintings\, photographs\, ceramics\, jewellery\, sculptures and much mor
e. The diversity and quality of work being exhibiting this year is fantas
tic. With live demonstrations from some of the artists there will be plen
ty to see and do.
\n
To date over £132\,000 has been raised by this e
vent alone. During the pandemic the event went virtual but now plans are i
n full swing to make this the best Pop-up Art Weekend ever.
\n
The Ch
ilterns MS Centre provides a hugely valuable service to over 500 people li
ving with MS\, and their families\, in Buckinghamshire\, Hertfordshire and
the surrounding areas. The Centre plays an important role in empowering p
eople with MS to manage their symptoms and live life to the full.
\n
“I don’t know where I would be without the help of the Centre\; I value no
t only the physical benefits but also the emotional support that is always
available. I know that should I need any additional help I have somewhere
to turn to – this is so reassuring when the future is so uncertain.” A me
mber of the Chilterns MS Centre.
\n
This year the art weekend is bein
g sponsored by The Clare Foundation\, a charity that brings together key s
takeholders from businesses and charities to facilitate and create positiv
e change across society in Buckinghamshire.
\n
Stella Kubale\, Head o
f Fundraising at the Chilterns MS Centre\, said: “We have been amazed at t
he support we have received over the past 2 years\, but we are all looking
forward to running one of our best events again. It not only gives peopl
e the chance to take in some wonderful art\, but allows the local communit
y to find out a bit more about us too. We are so grateful to The Clare Fo
undation for supporting this year’s event and are delighted to have them o
n board.”
\n
“The Clare Foundation are thr
illed to be funding this fantastic event and supporting the Chiltern MS Ce
ntre who do such great work in the community supporting those in need. We
look forward to attending the event in March in Wendover\, meeting the loc
al artists\, and seeing the beautiful works of Art on display”

Seven original prints by Picasso\, one of the 20th century’s greates
t artists\, will be displayed in Aylesbury in a loan exhibition from The H
iggins Art Gallery & Museum\, Bedford.
\n
Picasso & the Maste
rs of Print
\n
Picasso created over 2000 printed images dur
ing his long and varied career. The seven prints on display show how he ex
perimented with a wide range of techniques from etchings to revolutionary
linocuts. His work represents one of the most creative and diverse periods
of printmaking in the history of western art.
\n
Picasso’s prints ar
e accompanied by a wider exhibition of original prints by other influentia
l artists\, including masterpieces by historical legends such as Dürer and
Rembrandt\, 20th century icons such as Matisse and Miró\, cont
emporary artists such as Paula Rego and David Hockney and American printma
kers such as Jasper Johns\, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.
\n
Pica
sso’s prints\, and those of many other artists\, were not made in isolatio
n but as part of a collaborative process. He was supported by master print
ers whose technical ability enabled him to fulfil his artistic visions. Pu
blishers and art dealers then established his reputation as a master print
maker by disseminating his work to a wide audience. This exhibition explor
es these themes and shines a light on artists\, skilled printmakers and fo
rward-thinking publishers through the beautiful\, striking and powerful pr
ints they created together.
\n
Mel Czapski\, Curator of Art at Discov
er Bucks Museum\, said\, “Printmaking is a fascinating medium\, filled wit
h energy and creativity. Picasso & the Masters of Print is a fabu
lous opportunity to see work from five centuries of printmaking and we are
delighted that our visitors will have the chance to be inspired by the or
iginality and invention of the work on display.”

e event. Adults will also be given a fabulous purple t-shirt to walk in –
so they will be easy to spot on their travels!

This is the third <
em>Bridges of Britain event\, and the first with a group walk in two
years. “We are delighted to announce the return of our flagship Bridge

\n
