AYLESBURY TOWN COUNCIL APPEAL FOR MORE ALLOTMENT LAND

Due to the increasing popularity for ‘growing your own’ fruit and vegetables, Aylesbury Town Council has identified an increasing desire of local residents for allotment plots. As a result, Aylesbury Town Council has been actively seeking additional land, and is now calling on local people to identify possible sites.

With responsibility for over 600 allotment plots spread over seven sites in Aylesbury, Aylesbury Town Council takes its responsibility for providing allotments very seriously. Six of the sites were at only 50% occupancy when taken on by Aylesbury Town Council seven years ago, but thanks to the efforts of Aylesbury Town Council’s Outdoor Team popularity has increased significantly and there is now an ever growing waiting list. A significant need for further allotment plots to keep up with demand has been recognised.

“Our allotment holders consider the upkeep of their plots incredibly important,” said Keith Turner, Town Clerk. ”Our capable Outdoor Team are doing well to keep on top of the maintenance of existing sites, but the current demand for allotments is extremely high and we are keen to identify and develop further sites with the help of local people.”

Aylesbury Town Council is seeking plots larger than 3 acres within the parish of Aylesbury Town, if possible. Anyone who has identified potential land or is a landowner wishing to sell should get in touch with Aylesbury Town Council on 01296 425 678.

Anyone interested in obtaining an allotment plot should contact Kayleigh Wiltshire on 01296 425 678 to be added to the waiting list.
