DANCING SPIRIT HIGH IN AYLESBURY TOWN!
Last Sunday saw a great selection of dancers take to the stage in Kingsbury for Aylesbury Town Council and Aylesbury Town Centre Partnership’s Summer Sunday ‘Dance Now!’ event organised by STN Music. Dancers of all ages and styles were joined by two musical acts including the fabulous pop act Lippy.
Professional Belly Dancer Aurora stole the show with her astounding eastern style dance, accompanied by music so uplifting it inspired some members of the audience to join in! Aurora was just part of a thrilling bill of dancers including professional Salsa dancers Francis and Carie, who are part of the team at Seal Dance Academy in Milton Keynes, and certainly took the audience’s breath away with their super-fast yet super-accurate dance moves.
Younger dancers also shined through, with members from the Leanne Hughes Theatre School in Leighton Buzzard performing impressive ballet, tap and modern dance routines, including a spine tingling modern piece from youngsters Adam Mitchell and Emily Hart. Members of the Theatretrain Company, based in Aylesbury, also performed some great group dances to modern pop hits.
Possibly the youngest performers on the day were two six year old girls from the Aylesbury Indian Cultural Society who energetically performed their dance to modern eastern music, showing their star quality and proving that practice makes perfect!
A set from solo acoustic performer Jude brought a musical interlude to the dancing, performing well known modern songs to accompany audience members’ coffee and lunch breaks. Topping off the show were talented pop act Lippy, who performed covers of classic hits from artists such as Lady Ga Ga, Sister Sledge and Sugababes. They certainly helped get everyone into the dancing spirit and the dance floor was soon filled with audience members, young and old.
The Summer Sunday Music Events draw to a close on the 5th September with Slyde - a tribute to Slade and the Glam Rock era of the 70's, supported by pop covers duo Hotline, who are making a welcome return to Aylesbury. This all takes place in Kingsbury from 11.30am – 2pm.
