Aylesbury's Full of Life!
A Free Showcase for Older People's Contribution will take place on Friday 1st October 2010 10.30 – 2.00 at The Oculus, Gatehouse Road - and needs your contribution!
A multi-agency group is arranging a day to celebrate all that older people do to contribute to our society and to break down some of the stereotypes about older people.
The main focus of the day will be a talent show which will include performance artists, exhibitions of art and talks by people with interesting achievements to describe.
Another feature will be enabling younger people to share the day and talk to older people using a ‘living book’ approach, learning from and perhaps making friendships for the future.
There will also be information stands to help older people get & stay active and to find out about all of the services that are available to support them in their homes.
There will be a free lunch. Indeed the whole day is free!
We want you to get involved.
• We need older people with a talent to share.
• We need older people willing to showcase art that they have painted, made or photographed etc.
• We need older people who can talk about an unusual gift or experience.
• We need older people willing to share their experiences with younger people.
