Data Backup

Aylesbury Town Council have taken steps to ensure that its most essential documents and files are protected in the event of a hardware failure. A new data backup system is now in place at the Town Hall.

The developed world increasingly relies on the power of the computer to achieve its daily tasks. In this regard, Aylesbury Town Council is no different. The management of the allotment gardens across town and organising the Tring Road Cemetery would be much harder without the help of computerisation.

The cost of embracing the computer as a tool of organisation is an inevitable and almost uncontrollable growth in data. The more one relies on the electron, the more storage one must provide for the fruits of labour. Aylesbury Town Council recently took steps to implement a new layer of security in data backup and safely store the most essential documents and files.

The system automatically saves our most important data to ensure that we can carry on working should there be a hardware failure. As such, it forms an important aspect of our Business Contingency Plan which will soon be undergoing a full review. Being automated it also requires relatively few man hours to ensure smooth operation.

The system also provides us with the option to digitally archive many of our existing paper based documents. This provides a foundation for Aylesbury Town Council to take tentative steps to becoming a paperless office - a far more environmentally sustainable way of operating.
