Special Projects

Aylesbury Town Council is a forward looking organisation. We are always keen to explore exciting new avenues whilst we continue to deliver our high quality services to the residents of the parish of Aylesbury.

Below you can find details of the special projects we are currently working on. If you would like to know more, would like to take part in one of the projects, or have an idea for something we could try, please contact Aylesbury Town Council’s Project Officer who will be happy to discuss things with you further.

Corporate Plan
The Town Council is taking stock and planning its overall priorities and actions for the next four years. The corporate plan once complete will be available to download here.

High Speed 2
Aylesbury Town Council has produced a response to the seven consultation questions. It has been passed by the Policy Committee and Full Council, it can be read in full here.

Bedgrove Carbon Contest
Aylesbury Town Council, in conjunction with Aylesbury Vale District Council, Bucks County Council and Zap Carbon promoted an electrifing carbon reduction contest in Bedgrove. Sponsored prizes were awarded by the Mayor of Aylesbury.

Data Backup
Aylesbury Town Council have taken steps to ensure that its most essential documents and files are protected in the event of a hardware failure. A new data backup system is now in place at the Town Hall.

Biodiesel

Aylesbury Town Council, with the support of the Greater Aylesbury Local Area Forum, are undertaking an exciting new environmental project: the production of biodiesel. Self produced biodiesel is clean, green and cheaper than diesel from the pump. It will go some way to help reducing our fuel costs and reduce our carbon emissions, making the environment better for all.

Red Diesel
We've made the switch to Red diesel! This is a gas oil, very similar to diesel fuel you get at the pumps, with a chemical solvent dye added. Red diesel attracts a much lower fuel duty than regular diesel fuel. This move will save the council hundreds of pounds over the course of a year!

A41 Speed Survey

In November 2010, two Aylesbury Town Councillors undertook a speed survey on the A41 Tring road following issues raised by residents about traffic speeds. Their results were analysed by the Project Officer and are presented here. Analysis showed that with an average speed of 32.08 mph, 58.92% of all motorists were in excess of the limit.

Cycle 2 Work Scheme
Pedal power has been embraced by Aylesbury Town Council. Now our employees can enjoy the benefits of tax free bicycles or cycling equipment to get them to and from work or about town on their duties. Cycling is already popular with the Outdoor Staff who regularly exercise their legs on the way to work!

Solar Power
The power of the sun is being harnessed by an array of solar panels on the roof of the Town Hall. The electricity produced by the sun’s rays goes to help power the council offices. This has produced a massive financial benefit. The array has generated £3,321.63 since installation.
