The Mayor
Jenny Puddefoot was born and bred and lived most of her life in and around Aylesbury. Born in Ripon Street in the heart of Aylesbury Old Town Jenny attended Stoke Mandeville Primary School whilst living close to Stoke Mandeville Hospital before moving on to the Aylesbury High School. During this time she joined local Brownie and Girl Guide groups, worked as Saturday girl in many local shops, enjoyed herself at local youth clubs and the then Grosvenor Dance Hall.
Jenny initially worked in a local children’s home before training as a teacher. She worked in a number of local schools, particularly special needs and latterly as a supply teacher.
Jenny has always been active in the community including support of the creative arts including the Jigsaw Theatre Group. She has also to provide support of Aylesbury Youth Concern.
Married to Rod (who is very involved in local folk music) with two grown up children Jenny says “I am passionate about Aylesbury. Having lived in the area for so long I do know lots of residents and local groups. I want to use my second term as Mayor to help as much as I can to support residents and local businesses through this period of economic uncertainty to ensure the cuts to local services can be ameliorated as much as possible. I know many people in Aylesbury who have lost jobs in the last few years due to the state of the economy any many young people who have left school and had difficulty finding employment. We must help wherever possible”.
Jenny has been an elected Town Councillor for many years and believes that local parish and town councils are best placed to provide services to local people. “We know that local residents care about their town centre and their area where they live. Keeping the entire town clean, tidy and attractive as possible is also one of the Town Council’s and mine major objectives”.
