Sunday 11 December, 2016 FREE EVENT

Carolfest was held in St Mary’s church, where around 350 people filled the church to the rafters with traditional Christmas Carols, helped along by the children of Oak Greeen School, the Wingrave Singers and Caduceus Brass Quintet.  It was a very relaxed atmosphere, with children and parents standing in the aisles and sitting on the floor singing the carols, whilst enjoying the free hot chocolate and mince pies, served by the local Matrix Scouts and provided by Tesco Community.  Dez Kay from Stoke Mandeville radio, compared the evening, encouraging loud voices and even a spot of jigging and dancing.  At the end of the sing-along, a bucket collection was held to raise funds for the Mayor’s charity – Space – where a fantastic £421.84 was raised, this will help run and fund drop in sessions and counselling for those in need of help and support.
