Sunday 11 December, 2016 FREE EVENT

“It was Christmas Eve, Clara and her little brother, Fritz, were listening at the ballroom door, waiting for the party to begin…………… there were Nutcracker Soldiers everywhere ……….. this is how it was when Godfather Drosselmeyer came to stay”, and this is how it was at this year’s Festive Family Fun Day in Aylesbury Town Centre, when visitors took part in a Giant Nutcracker Trail around the town, getting all the answers correct to be in with a chance of winning £200 of vouchers to spend in Friars Square, along with a number of other prizes from local retailers.

In addition there was a magical box of delights on offer; with graceful ballet dancers performing sections of the classic, enchanting Nutcracker ballet; live singing; The Sugar Plum Fairy and Toy Soldier on stilts; a mesmerising crystal ball manipulator; and breath taking performances on a unicycle and with hoola-hoops.  With games, crafts and activities inspired by the Nutcracker, alongside balloon modelling and face painting, all for FREE and in the warmth of Friars Square.  Families then ventured outside into Market Square to the captivating sounds of the traditional barrel organ, enticing smells of the hot roast chestnuts and the excitement of Fun Fair rides – also all for FREE.
