The official inauguration of the new Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor took place on Friday 27 May at Aylesbury College.

The Town Mayor for 2021-22, Cllr Anders Christensen, presented a cheque of £20,528.74 to his chosen charity of the year – Aylesbury Women’s Aid.

He also presented the inaugural Freda Roberts Community Award to Richard Walker, Head Womble of the Aylesbury Wombles, for his dedication to the voluntary litter-picking group. This new community award was given in memory of Mrs Freda Roberts MBE, a stalwart within the Aylesbury community who passed away last summer. Click here to read more about Mrs Roberts.

Cllr Christensen awarded Mr Tom Spurrier with a Certificate of Appreciation for his years of service to the Mayors of Aylesbury in his role as Mace Bearer.

Following these awards, the new Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Tim Dixon and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Steven Lambert, paraded out alongside the previous Town Mayor to pass over the mayoral robes.
Cllr Tim Dixon announced Aylesbury Foodbank would be his chosen charity of the year and gave a speech sharing his thoughts on his upcoming mayoral year.
