FATHER’S DAY FILLED WITH FREE ACTIVITIES IN AYLESBURY TOWN!
Authentic Roman activities, kids fun, live music and classic cars – all FREE events in Aylesbury Town on Sunday, 20th June!
Aylesbury Town Council are proud to announce they will be holding a Roman’s Fun Day in Market Square from 11am-4pm, where kids and adults alike can have a go at all sorts of Roman activities. These include a Roman Pottery workshop, where anyone can make a pot to take home, leather stamping to make Roman style necklaces and bracelets, and even Roman ‘Curse Writing’ using a real reed pen – something to try on friends (or enemies!).
Visitors can also have a go at writing like the Romans did on a genuine Wax Tablet using a pen known as a Stylus, or relax to some Roman storytelling. Visitors should also keep their eyes peeled for the Roman Soldier and Greco-Roman Lady living statues who will be performing throughout the day. Bringing a sense of authenticity to the day will be Roman Music by Historical music group ‘Praecones Britanniae’.
There’ll also be plenty of Roman fun to enjoy during the afternoon at Buckinghamshire County Museum in Church Street. There’ll be Roman Toys and Games available to play with in the Museum garden from 2.30pm - 4.30pm, plenty of hands-on activities in the museum for children, and two exhibitions featuring a variety of objects dating back to the Roman times, including loaned objects from the British Museum. The Museum will be open from 2pm-5pm.
Moving into the modern age, the fantastic inflatable Mix 96 Dome will be available at the bottom of Market Square for energetic kids, plus the Mix Monster, a face painter and the fabulous balloon modeller Twistina will be entertaining from 11am - 4pm.
There’s plenty for Dads to do too – it is Father’s day after all! A Frank Sinatra Tribute and the Sound Force Big Band will perform this Sunday in Kingsbury as part of Summer Sundays Music, supported by Aylesbury Town Centre Partnership and Aylesbury Town Council.
Dads can also enjoy browsing around an impressive selection of Classic Cars while listening to the music in Kingsbury, which is free and runs from 11.30am until 2pm.
