SUMMER MUSIC A HIT WITH MARKET SQUARE VISITORS
Last Sunday Market Square, Aylesbury, rang with the upbeat tempo of two specially chosen bands, this was the second in this years series of Sunday summer music events. Bands ‘Movie Stars’ and ‘Blues Blah Brothers’ proved a hit with visitors to the square. Despite the threat of rain, spectators were basked in sunshine, with some younger visitors even getting up to boogie!
‘Summer Sundays’ is a series of live music events run by local company STN Music and supported by the Aylesbury Town Centre Partnership and Aylesbury Town Council which feature a series of varied musical entertainment in the town centre every Sunday. The events ran last year and were a great success, so are now scheduled to take place every Sunday between 11:30am and 2pm from now until September in either Kingsbury or Market Square. All events are free for all and appeal to a wide audience, with acts as diverse as Reggae, Blues and even an Abba Tribute band!
Last Sunday saw the first time a ‘Summer Sundays’ music event had taken place in Market Square, as all previous events have taken place in Kingsbury. Feedback from both performers and spectators has been great and a number of future ‘Summer Sundays’ have already been scheduled to take place there.
“It’s a great way to spend a lunchtime in town,” said Hilary Trahair from Aylesbury Town Council. “Because the footfall is so high in Market Square between the two shopping centres plenty of people stopped to have a listen on the way through.
“We’re really glad that there will be future Summer Sundays in Market Square. Both bands thought it was a great venue and the visitors certainly seemed to enjoy their performances!”
