Live in the Park @ Vale Park | England | United Kingdom

Are you ready for Live in the Park 2019?  We are!!

It is with great excitement that we are announcing local super band Callow Saints as the headline act for this years Live in the Park, part of Parklife Weekend.  Callow Saints will be on stage at around 8:15pm, entertaining you with their energetic rock and pop anthems of original and cover tracks, after an entire day of continuous live music across 2 stages, where we’ll be showcasing a wide variety of local musical talent, from ukuleles and folk to rock, pop and brass.  Ruby Lewis, lead singer with Callow Saints says “We are so incredibly excited to be headlining Live in the Park, Aylesbury’s biggest live music event! It’s amazing that Aylesbury Town Council are supporting local original music, it really is an honour to be part of the return of live music in this town, following on from such a huge history of musical behemoths during the Friars era.  We have huge plans for the show, and can’t wait to share our new music and enjoy the amazing day with the people of Aylesbury!”

The full line up and timings will be confirmed much closer to the event, but for now we’ll tempt you with Little Brother Eli, Jamie Felton, The Horse Tornadoes, Chris da Ambassada, The Ukes of Hazzard, Gypsy Fingers, Dolly & The Dinosaur, Who’s Got The Dog and NBS, with further performers to be confirmed following the Open Mic Competitions in March.

Live in the Park takes place from 12noon until 9:30pm on Saturday 24th August, 2019 in Vale Park, as part of Parklife Weekend.  Not only will you get to experience all of these live bands for free, but there is a host of other free activities on offer too; fairground rides will include dodgems, trampolines, go-gator and a tea-cups ride and there’s the CIA (Community Involvement Area) where you’ll be able to play badminton, learn to street dance, play the drums, have your face painted, learn to tie knots with the Navy and so so so much more.  (if you’d like to be involved and promote your business / organisation then please do get in touch).  You are welcome to bring your own picnics to the event, but if you’d rather purchase a cold beer or hot food from site, there will be bars and a variety of catering stalls.

Following on from our initiative in 2018 to make this a Zero to Landfill event, we are building on the green ethos further, by not providing any single use plastics from any of the bars or catering outlets.  You will be able to purchase souvenir cups for £1, to help us, help the environment and all foods will be served in compostable containers – all we ask you to do is put your waste in the right bins.  With help from the public we’re hoping to reduce the amount of waste we generate even further.

Once again we will be joined by volunteers from BuDS – Buckinghamshire Disability Services – who assist us in providing an event that is accessible for all.  With the inclusion of a variety of facilities and procedures to ensure everyone can enjoy the event alongside family and friends.  We are thrilled that Marie from Hand Talking, will be providing BSL interpretation for the entire show, ensuring that those with hearing impairments know the words to all the songs.

Parklife Weekend brings you even more than Live in the Park, on Saturday evening it’s Stars in the Park; where you can join the amateur experts from UKAstronomy to find out more about the stars, planets and solar system.  On the Sunday, Aylesbury Church Network host an open air church service, Church in the Park, followed by Banquet in the Park, a chance to feast on a selection of fine multi-cultural dishes provided free by different ethnic groups from our town.  The entire weekend culminates with Proms in the Park, where you are invited to bring picnics, rugs, flags and your singing voices for this great British tradition, with the Aylesbury Concert Band, soloists and a guest interval performance by Viva D’Arte performing arts.  This year the concerts theme is “Childhood Memories” – so no matter your age, you’ll be sure to recognise a tune or two.  A spectacular firework display will finish the entire weekend at 9:30pm on Sunday 25th August.

With thanks to all of the companies and organisations involved in helping to provide this event to you free of charge.
