Today, March the 23rd, marks the one-year anniversary of the start of the first national lockdown. Since then, we’ve had to learn so many changes in our behaviours and learn to do without many of the things we previously took for granted. Today is a Day of Reflection and I would like to reflect in two ways. Firstly, for those who have suffered physical or mental illness or lost loved ones to the virus – you have my deepest sympathy.

Secondly, to those who have stepped up to help our community as key workers or one of the millions of volunteers who have helped us out – you have my very grateful thanks on behalf of the whole town.

There is now growing optimism, but we must still take care as the battle isn’t yet fully won, but I know as a town we will continue to work together, pull together and help each other out. Thank you all.
