In 6 months’ time, Parklife Weekend makes an exciting return in 2016.  Once again, over the August Bank Holiday weekend, Vale Park will be the setting for an entire weekend of FREE live music, family fun and entertainment.   Parklife will encompass Live in the Park, Proms in the Park, Church in the Park and Footie & Fun in the Park brought to you by Aylesbury Town Council and Aylesbury Church Network.

Building on the great feed-back from last year’s event, Cllr Peter Agoro, Chair of The Communities Committee at Aylesbury Town Council says “We are the council at the very heart of our community and we take pride in providing a wide range of FREE events across our parish.  Visitors to Live in the Park in 2015 gave us overwhelming positive feedback, praising the family activities, catering and line-up of live music, which included many local artists as well as supporting local businesses.  The relaxed, safe and comfortable environment in the park made it possible for us to provide a range of entertainment, for everyone to enjoy.   This year’s Live in the Park really builds on our ideology to support local.  In addition to the funfair, catering and bars, this year we will be adding a new Community Involvement Area, where you will be able to find more information about local businesses and charities, and to have a go at the services and activities they offer.  We are thrilled that popular local band Skasouls UK, whose drummer is from Aylesbury, will be the headline act for Live in the Park 2016.”

Stuart Robb has once again worked in partnership with Aylesbury Town Council and his knowledge of the local music scene has ensured that this year’s line-up includes an impressive and diverse array of both new and established local musicians to perform at Live in the Park. The very popular Skasouls UK will headline the event, appearing on stage at 8:15pm after 8 hours of amazing live local music.

For those that haven’t experienced a live performance from these exciting talented musicians, Skasouls UK have established a reputation playing covers by the Ska bands of the 80s: Madness; The Selecter; Bad Manners; The Specials; together with some older Jamaican ska. More recently, the band has embarked upon a program of releasing their own original ska which has been incredibly well received on iTunes (and major download sites). The success of the band can be measured by recent appearances with major artists such as Razorlight, The Feeling, The Hoosiers, Scouting For Girls, The Happy Mondays and Toploader, they are now frequently being asked to headline festivals in an ever growing area of the South.

Essential Motion will open the show at 12noon, they perform a mix of all-time classic floor-fillers, top Chart material, deep grooves and some overlooked classics.  Other local bands playing include Aylesbury favourites Zealey & Moore, Lost Minute, The Dung Beatles and Bustin’ Loose.  This will be the 25th anniversary year of Bustin’ Loose; Rob Oakley, lead vocalist says “Having performed over 1,100 gigs and approx. 35,500 songs, playing Live in the Park in our 25th year, to an audience of thousands, on such an impressive outdoor stage will be an amazing highlight, we can’t wait to rock your socks off”.

Acoustic and original music will come from Paul Jackson, Evette Judge, The Ukes of Hazzard, James & Jack Manders, Lucy Mair and the impressive Rock Choir.

On Sunday, Aylesbury Church Network will have their traditional Church in the Park then the newly formatted Footie & Fun in the Park events, before the live music returns – this time with classical and modern music performed by Aylesbury Concert Band and Soprano, Alison Langer during Proms in the Park. Bring your flags, chairs, picnic blankets and hampers to have a fantastic time at this Great British tradition.  The weekend culminates with a Grand Finale of sparkling fireworks at the end of the Proms at approx. 9:30pm.

Aylesbury Town Council are thrilled to bring you an entire weekend of fantastic free family fun right here in our local Vale Park.
